Anorexia nervosa hit our family, seemingly out of the blue. We have learned a lot from our fight against the condition so far. If sharing what we have learned helps only one other family, this blog will have served its purpose.

So sad to read about your family’s struggle – my family went through something similar nearly ten years ago. Reading this brings it all back. I wish you and your daughter strength to fight this, I will pray for you all.

I found great help from the eating disorders association, BEAT – http://www.b-eat.co.uk/Home – not sure if you’ve heard of them, but we found support from them helpful. There is a Young Person’s section which your daughter can access if she gets to a stage where she wants to talk to other young people with similar problems.

Thank you very much for your kind message. We have learned a lot from BEAT and I’m sure we will continue to do so. I hope you and yours are all completely well now, as we will be one day, please God.

How nice to see an ED blog written from the perspective of a father. Wow. Don’t ever give up on her. As a woman who’s lived with an eating disorder for 23 years, I can tell you that this mental illness is insidious. That I got professional help throughout my teenage years has saved my life more than once as an adult. I wish for your family courage, strength, honesty and stability.

  3. Good afternoon, I came across your blog by typing in ‘glasgowe sufferers eating disorders’ however, I am not sure if you are actually from Glasgow. If you are, I just wanted to let you know that there is a free support group that runs every Monday evening in Glasgow city centre that is for those affected by eating disorders. We also welcome carers/family/friends of those affected by any type of eating disorder. The gorup is volunary and I started the group about 5 months ago and I suffered an eating disorder for 13 years so I undersatnd many of the issues surrounding eating disorders. I also have a professional background in eating disorders. If you would like to come along to a meetup or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me on the email address below or join our free, private and confidential website highlighted above. I hope that I have not diturbed you and I apologise if I have, however, I just wanted to let you know that there is a support group for sufferers and carers in the Glasgow area. Thank you for your time and best wishes

Dear Alexandra. Thanks very much for your message. We do have ties to Glasgow, but are not living there at the moment so it would not be possible for us to take part, but I am happy to leave your details up there in the hope that others might benefit. Good luck.

It’s been over a year now since you posted and I still check your blog every day. I hope and pray that everything is ok but I fear the worst. Please do email me, you and your family are constantly on my mind and I would really appreciate any kind of update, if you are able. Thank you, best wishes.

I think it is very brave of you to talk about your family and anorexia. You have all my compassion and support. I have found your blog because I was looking for information as I would like to write about eating disorders. I think people need to know about them and those who are suffering need support.
I would appreciate if you can talk to me or let me use the information you have already shared. Everything is completely confidential as long as you want to. If you do not want to post that comment you can email me at pencheva.mirela@gmail.com

Thank you for your time and all the best,
